It's a boy!

Jack

I am thrilled to announce the birth of my son, John Arthur Kealy on October 6, 2004 at 6:52 PM ET. Jack came in at a very healthy 8 lbs 11 oz and 20.5 inches.

My wife, Vickie, did wonderfully and both she and baby are doing well and resting up.

Fun Fact - Jack was born exactly 8 years from the day Vickie and I met.

Alena & Declan & Maya and more

On May 9, my (honorary) brother Pat Rehill and his wife Alicia had a baby daughter, Alena Rehill. She seems to be happy and healthy with well developed lungs (being exercised daily from 6 to 9 PM.)

Here are pictures from Declan's 1st birthday party and here are some great pictures of Alena, her cousins and my nephews, Declan and Harrison, Maya (my cousin Heather's daughter) and Claudette & Sophia (my cousin Michael's daughters.) My mom, Christine Kealy, uncle John Keenen, cousins Heather and Meredith and Michael (w/ her husband Michael) and Alicia's brothers also make an appearance.

I am very sorry to report the passing of Arthur Philip Kealy. Husband to Kathy, Father to my cousins, John and Patrick, Brother to Patrick, Kathy, and Bob, Art passed away on the morning of April 7, 2004.

Art was the second son of J. Arthur and Genevieve Kealy. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 1, 1945 and was a 1967 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Art and Kathy were married for 35 years and raised two really good men, John and Patrick. Art was also the proud grandfather of five little Kealys, Shane, Devin, Alexander, Dierdre, and Ryan.

He will be dearly missed.

February 2004
Izabelle Alissa Jonsson!

Well it's been a busy year already for several of my cousins.

Congrats to my cousin, Jen (Egan) Jonsson and husband, Patrik, on the birth of Izabelle Alissa. Izzy was born on February 3 at 12:05AM. At birth she was 8 lbs 9 oz. (3.9 kg) and 21 inches (52 cm.)

Her parents have already set their sights on the Presidency of the United States, Prime Minister of Sweden or both for little Izzy.

Patrik has built a great site for keeping up with Izzy. Judging from what I see they are very happy... and tired.

January 2004
Ryan Philip Kealy!

The West Coast Kealys are at it again.

Congratulations to Patrick, Antonia, and Alexander Kealy on their family expansion. Antonia gave birth to Ryan Philip Kealy on January 21, 2004 at 1:36 AM.

Ryan came into the world at 6 lbs 15 oz., 20 inches long.

Welcome Ryan, sign the guestbook!

Fighting Irish finish 10-0

Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep's freshman football team finished 10-0 for the Fall 2003 Season. This is the first time the Fighting Irish freshman team has finished undefeated..

Patrick Kealy played tight end and defensive end on the team this season. Included among the victories was a 33-0 defeat of Patrick's cousins, John and Patrick Kealy's alma mater, Moreau.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for this group as they progress through high school.

Congrats to everyone on the team!

Happy Holidays from Kealy.com
Like many others, I have been trying to make sense of the tragedy of September 11. It's the kind of event that makes you examine all aspects of your life- love, family, friends career, spiritual. As someone with a lot of ambivalence about God, I find myself envious of those who find a real comfort in religion. I recently read a quote about God that has given me some comfort. "You don't believe in God like you believe in a tree, you believe in God like you believe in a friend."
I believe deeply in my friends and my family.

We have a fairly common tradition around the dinner table on Thanksgiving of going around the table and having everyone say what they are thankful for. This year was particularly touching because my traditional family gathering was spared the pain that many were not. My uncle Tom Egan was there, carving the turkey, leading the pre-meal prayer, watching football. He was there because on September 11 he was in Nantucket on vacation instead of working at Cantor Fitzgerald at the top of the World Trade Center. For that I am eternally thankful.

I got to spend Thanksgiving day with my family where, before dinner, my brother, Sean, and I challenged my cousins Tom and Carey Egan to some football on the lawn. Jen Egan's boyfriend, Patrik joined us to toss the ball around. The youngest family members on the scene toddled about. Therese debuted the song she will sing for Vickie and I at our wedding. Everyone got a chance to catch up. All in all a great day. For my family that was and wasn't present, I am thankful.

The day before Thanksgiving we discovered one of cats was sick and would need to take anitbiotics while were a way. Without a single word of complaint my friend and groomsman, Rob Ionta, took care of the job. I am always very thankful to know I have friends like that I can count on..

The day after Thanksgiving my grandmother, Mia, threw Vickie a weddng shower. Sweet, sweet Vickie. What can I say? She is my family and my best friend. So I am particularly and fondly thankful to have her in my life.

In general in light of recent events I find myself wanting to thank God, as a friend for...well, everything. You can't say thank you enough.

Happy Holiday to everyone!
-Ben Kealy

Patrick Kealy marries Antonia Pipirakis

On Sunday July 2, 2000, my cousin, Patrick Kealy of San Francisco married the lovely Antonia Piperakis. The ceremony was held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and was presided over by Father Anthony Kosturos.

The reception was held afterwards at the Golden Gate Yacht Club, which afforded a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The photo is the newlyweds on their honeymoon in Greece.

Kealy family in attendance (as related to Ben Kealy,publisher-Kealy.com) included Patrick (father), Patrick John "PJ" (brother), John & Amy & Shane (cousin, his wife and child), Art and Kathy Kealy (uncle and aunt), Kathy and Michael O'Conner (aunt and uncle), Father Bob Kealy (uncle), and Jen and Kevin O'Keefe (2nd cousins).

George Edward Keenen, 84, passes away

At 6 AM on June 16, 2000, a great man, my maternal grandfather, George Edward Keenen passed away. I have added a memorial page to Kealy.com. in his memory.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was sweet. funny, courtly and devoutly Catholic. And he will be sorely missed.

He had recently been named "Volunteer of the Year" by the Center of Hope hospice.
