The other day, Jack insisted on bringing his cell phone into school with him. To be fair, it is a real cell phone, one of my old ones, with no service connected to it. It still takes pictures and plays music and plays a recorded message that no service is connected when he tries to make a call. He spends a lot of time calling and emailing BrettFavre. So, I told him he could bring the phone in but it would have to stay in his jacket pocket, which he agreed to. When we got into the classroom he told his teacher that he had his phone but that he would leave it in the pocket and that “if BrettFavre calls me, I will not get it.”

Last night, he told me he had learned to whistle. Sure enough, it was a little whistle. He then said that he was going to whistle SOOOOOO LOUD for Lulu that she would hear him and come back home to us. Aw, so sweet.

In November, our little Lulu went out on an evening patrol. She just didn’t come home. We posted signs, checked the shelters (still do, in fact), and kept our eyes open. No luck. She was only 6. She was a ferocious hunter – cleaned out the moles, the chipmunks, a frog, birds, and was working on a family of rabbits. She also slept on my bed, and even got to feel Jack kick when I was pregnant. The suprised look on her face was priceless! So, for my sense of closure, I am saying good-bye. We’ll miss you, little girl (cat).

My Sunshine

It’s been rough at work, which is another whole long story for another time and place. So, I really appreciate my boys, Jack and Ben. As I was tucking Jack in the other night, I told him that I loved him and that he made me happy. He asked: “when skies are grey?” (Yes, from the song “You Are My Sunshine”) I said, ” yes, you and daddy are my sunshines.” He very seriously said, “no. Just me. Daddy was Yaya’s sunshine when he was little. I am yours.” I laughed and said that I was sure daddy is still Yaya’s sunshine just like he will always be mine.

Just a little update… I’ve been holding steady for about a month!

All of you may be following the Olympics closely. Jack is watching the Olympkins. So far, the gymnastics, men and women, and the women’s beach volleyball are his favorites. No great surprise there! But all of it seems to intrigue him. It’s been tough to explain some events – like boxing and wrestling, since he’s not supposed to hit or wrestle!
